|
Syd was the project's first secretary and was instrumental |

|
| in moving it forward to the exciting stage we are at now. |
| |
| Always on site willing to lend a hand and put his many |
| practical skills to good use whilst wearing his overalls, |
| he could also 'scrub up' to support more formal |
| occasions such as the project being presented the |
| 'Best of North Dorset' award and also when he |
| attended the ceremonial 'handing over' of the lease of |
| Shillingstone Station with Mr Bob Walter, the 'North |

Dorset Conservative MP'. |
| |
| Syd sadly passed away in February 2008. He will always be very fondly remembered by all |
| the members of the 'North Dorset Railway Trust' not only on account of his hard work and |
| dedication to the project but also for his fantastic sense of humour. |

|
| Thankfully, his legend will live on at the station. It was his wish that his ashes be scattered on the site and a memorial bench has |
| been dedicated to him so future visitors can relax at the station whilst seeing Syd's hard work being continued. |
